Board Member Lunch & Learn Recap

Sometimes the best measure of an event is the connections people carry forward. Attendees left our Lunch & Learn with stronger relationships, renewed connections, and a shared commitment to solving the challenges facing our communities.

Kicking it off, Commissioner Damian Pardo shared important community updates with attendees, offering insight into recent agenda items affecting Brickell residents and condominium communities. His remarks gave board members and property managers an opportunity to hear directly about matters impacting the neighborhood and the ongoing work taking place at City Hall.

Two candidates joined us and spoke with guests: Elliott Rodriguez, a Democratic candidate for Florida’s 27th Congressional District, and Judge Ruiz, who is seeking reelection to Florida’s 11th Judicial Circuit Court and will appear on the August 18, 2026 primary ballot.

Our sponsors shared valuable expertise and memorable takeaways throughout the program.

CL Wizard, Marco Sousa opened the sponsor presentations by introducing its water-intrusion solution, which the company says has been successfully used since 2017. Its specialized polyvinyl liquid penetrates concrete like water and then hardens into a flexible, rubber-like seal, addressing leaks without extensive demolition or building shutdowns.

Next, Cesar Soto of Paramount Consulting & Engineering spoke about the importance of understanding the condition of aging properties and taking a proactive approach to building maintenance. He emphasized that regular evaluations and early attention to potential concerns can help associations make informed decisions, plan responsibly, and address problems before they become more disruptive or costly. Cesar captured the message with a memorable comparison: “You wouldn’t wait 40 years to go to the doctor, so why would we do the same with our buildings?”

USI Insurance Services followed with a presentation led by Lorenzo Cardenas, a recognized expert with more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Drawing on his extensive market knowledge, Lorenzo offered thoughtful insights into the current insurance landscape and the issues affecting condominium associations. His ability to connect industry trends with the real-world needs of board members and property managers made his presentation especially informative and valuable.

Justin Mila led the Hotwire Communications presentation alongside Margarita Czupryn, closing the sponsor portion of the program with an engaging demonstration of fiber-optic technology. Together, they showed how a single strand of fiber, remarkably small yet incredibly powerful, can carry enough data to connect an entire city. Their demonstration brought the technology to life and gave attendees a memorable look at the speed and capabilities behind modern connectivity.

We are grateful to Commissioner Damian Pardo, Elliott Rodriguez, Judge Ruiz, and our sponsor representatives: Marco Sousa of CL Wizard, Cesar Soto of Paramount Consulting & Engineering, Lorenzo Cardenas of USI Insurance Services, and Justin Mila and Margarita Czupryn of Hotwire Communications. We also thank every guest who contributed to the thoughtful conversations and camaraderie that made the afternoon so meaningful.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to our next event. To learn more about BHA membership and becoming part of our growing community, please email us at info@brickellhomeowners.org.
