The Brickell Homeowners Association held a panel bringing together professionals in association law, property management, insurance and risk management, and City of Miami Code Compliance. The gathering reflects BHA’s ongoing work to connect condominium communities with the expertise and public agencies involved in addressing short-term rental concerns.

Meet the panel

Each panelist brought a different professional perspective to the conversation:

The panel was moderated by David Podein of Haber Law.

City oversight and accountability

City Commissioner Damian Pardo sponsored a resolution calling for a clearer picture of short-term rental activity, including rentals of fewer than 30 days. The resolution calls for a comprehensive City report on vacation and short-term lodging, quarterly updates on condominium buildings with multiple violations, and a legal review of vacation-rental registration programs created in other jurisdictions after 2011.

These requests focus on reporting and oversight. For the full language, see the City’s legislative file. BHA will continue connecting residents and condominium leaders with updates as this work develops.

Report a suspected illegal residential use

If you suspect a property is operating as a short-term rental without the required City approvals, the City of Miami provides a Report an Illegal Residential Use or Unit resource.
