Commissioner Rosado’s Brickell Block Walk Recap
City departments, public safety personnel, resident leaders, and community stakeholders came together throughout Brickell to identify quality-of-life concerns firsthand and collaborate on solutions in real time. The walkthrough focused on cleanliness, infrastructure, pedestrian safety, Baywalk conditions, landscaping, and overall neighborhood quality of life.
Among the key issues identified were unsafe and cracked sidewalks contributing to resident falls, drainage and lighting deficiencies, dead landscaping along Brickell Avenue medians, Baywalk maintenance concerns, graffiti and visual blight, abandoned signage, and ongoing cleanliness challenges throughout the corridor. Residents also raised concerns regarding unsafe pedestrian crossings and the overall pedestrian experience along Brickell Avenue.
The walkthrough brought together representatives from Resilience and Public Works, Code Compliance, Solid Waste, Miami Police Department personnel, District staff, and resident leadership from across the Brickell community. By having multiple departments present on-site, concerns could be addressed collaboratively and routed to the appropriate teams more efficiently.
Most importantly, residents appreciated the opportunity to engage directly with City leadership. While communication often happens through emails and service requests, these face-to-face conversations help strengthen partnerships, improve accountability, and continue building a cleaner, safer, and more connected Brickell community.
