In anticipation of the upcoming implosion of the Mandarin Oriental, Miami, a Zoom webinar will be hosted with demolition experts to review the Demolition Protocol previously shared with the community.

Timeline
8:28 AM – Sirens begin (2-minute warning)
8:29 AM – Final countdown (10 seconds)
8:30 AM – Implosion (~20 seconds)
8:35 AM – “All Clear” signal
By 1:30 PM – Traffic fully reopened
Restricted Area
800 ft exclusion zone will be cleared of traffic and people
No one should be outside, on balconies, or rooftops during implosion
What to Expect
Vibrations
Building will not fall as one piece
Debris will hit the ground in stages over several seconds
Vibrations expected to remain within safe limits
No damage expected to nearby buildings
Dust
Released instantly during implosion
May linger several minutes depending on wind conditions
Wind direction may affect where dust travels
Air quality will be monitored before and after
Debris
Expected to remain within the site footprint
Containment measures include:
Structural walls left in place
Perimeter barriers installed
Barges positioned in Biscayne Bay to catch debris
Environmental Safety
All hazardous materials have been removed
Marine experts confirm no harmful impact expected
Bay will be inspected before and after
Any debris will be removed immediately
Resident Safety Tips
Keep windows and doors closed tightly
Seal gaps with towels or tape if needed
Bring in or cover outdoor furniture and plants
Keep pets indoors
Remain inside until the dust has fully cleared
Important Notes
No evacuation required for any neighboring buildings
If you decide to leave Brickell Key, do so before 7:00 AM
Expect temporary road closures on Brickell Key Drive including the Brickell Key Bridge
Residents can expect to return to normal activity by approximately 1:30 PM
After the Implosion
Cleanup begins immediately after dust clears
Streets and sidewalks will be prioritized
Area expected to be fully cleaned and reopened by 1:30 PM
