Sidewalk and Drainage Improvements Scheduled Along 2200 Block of Brickell Avenue
Residents and motorists should anticipate temporary lane closures over the coming weeks as a sidewalk and drainage improvement project moves forward along the 2200 block of Brickell Avenue.
According to the approved Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans (Permit No. PW24002069UP), the work will focus on sidewalk reconstruction and related paving and drainage improvements within an approximately 400-foot segment of the corridor.
Construction Schedule
The project will occur in three phases:
Phase I: February 25 – March 1, 2026
Southbound lane (furthest west) – see attached plan
Phase II: March 4 – March 8, 2026
Middle lanes adjacent to the median – see attached plan
Phase III: March 11 – March 15, 2026
Northbound lane (furthest east) – see attached plan
During each phase, active construction will take place Wednesday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Work activities will include:
Demolition of existing sidewalk sections
Forming and preparation
Concrete pouring
No active construction will occur on Saturdays or Sundays while newly poured concrete cures. The affected lane will reopen at the beginning of each week (Monday and Tuesday) before the next phase resumes.
Traffic Impacts
The project will require temporary lane closures during active construction hours. The MOT plans indicate:
A defined work zone with taper and buffer space
Intermittent bus stop closures during active phases C-01 APPROVED MOT
Driveways within the work area will remain accessible at all times C-04 APPROVED MOT
No additional noise waiver is required, as all work will occur during standard permitted construction hours.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time when traveling through the area on active construction days and to exercise caution near the work zone.
