How the I See Change Flood Reporting System Works
When you report flooding or clogged drains through I See Change, your submission goes directly to the City of Miami’s Public Works Department. Behind the scenes, the system automatically creates a 311 request, alerting the Operations Division right away. Public Works then inspects the location, and if needed, they clean or service the drain—typically well before the 30-day service window.
During King Tide or heavy rain events, however, flooding can still occur even if the drains are clean. This happens when Biscayne Bay water levels rise so high that water flows back into the streets. In those cases, temporary pumps may be used, but they’re often limited because water cycles back toward the bay along streets like Brickell Bay Drive.
If you notice a specific drain that seems consistently problematic, you can also email internet@publicworks.comwith details and photos.
