Resolution on Addressing Recent Shootings and Promoting Community Safety
RESOLUTION
The Brickell Homeowners Association is fully adopting the following resolution as of October 25, 2023.
WHEREAS, Brickell Homeowners Association (BHA) proposes a resolution addressing recent shootings and promoting community safety.
WHEREAS recent shootings in our community have caused deep concern among residents, and it is essential for community leaders, law enforcement, and residents to work collaboratively to address these issues and promote community safety and transparency.
WHEREAS the safety and well-being of our community members are paramount and should be protected;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that:
The community acknowledges the seriousness of recent shootings and their impact on our residents' safety and well-being.
The community expresses its support for law enforcement agencies and the City of Miami District 2 Commissioner Covo for their steps to investigate and address these shootings. We appreciate their dedication and commitment to protecting our community.
The community requests a revision to the code that governs operating hours for establishments with a 2COP License, allowing them to operate until 5 a.m.
The community strongly requests a revision to the district policies that accurately recognize Brickell as a residential neighborhood.
The community urges changes to the permitted operating hours for businesses on Sundays due to their proximity to schools and the potential dangers posed to families and children.
The community commits to ongoing dialogue and collaboration between residents, community leaders, and law enforcement to ensure proactive measures are in place to prevent shootings and promote a safer community.
The community urges other communities and organizations to support similar efforts to address gun violence and promote community safety.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be distributed to local law enforcement agencies, community organizations, elected officials, and community residents to raise awareness and encourage participation in efforts to address recent shootings and promote community safety.
