City of Miami Commission Meeting

You are invited to attend the City of Miami Commission meeting on Thursday at 9:00 AM to share your thoughts on several impactful agenda items that directly affect our neighborhoods.

Key Agenda Items Include:

🔹 RE.5 – Police Staffing Increase

A resolution directing the City Manager to fund, recruit, and hire 300 additional police officers over the next three fiscal years, beginning in FY 2025–2026. The City Manager is also tasked with identifying funding sources—including grants—and presenting a full funding plan at the July 24, 2025 meeting.

🔹 PDI 7 – Downtown Development Authority (DDA). A presentation regarding the DDA, an issue that has drawn significant attention and concern from engaged residents—many of whom have voiced strong positions. The BHA Leadership team agrees it should be put to a vote! 

🔹  SR.1 - Elections. Amending section 16-2 of the city code, titled “same-holding of city elections; straw ballot,” to change the date of the general election and to change the date of all subsequent elections; providing for the extension of existing terms of office; containing a severability clause; and providing for an immediate effective date.

🔹 RE.7 – Senior Tax Relief Program

Proposal to refund a portion of ad valorem property taxes to homesteaded residents age 65+, with options for 100%, 50%, or 25% refunds to be analyzed.

🔹 RE.8 – DDA Chairperson Appointment

Resolution to appoint Commissioner Ralph “Rafael” Rosado as Chair of the Downtown Development Authority.

🔹 PH 1 - Enters the Olympia Theatre into a no bid charter school agreement. with SLAM Academy
