BHA Hosts Public Safety Meeting with City Officials and Stakeholders

The Brickell Homeowners Association (BHA) recently hosted a community meeting focused on public safety and quality of life issues, bringing together key stakeholders, the City of Miami Police Department, Commissioner Damian Pardo (District 2), and representatives from the Office of Commissioner Joe Carollo (District 3).

During the meeting, Commissioner Pardo shared updates on recent efforts, including the Brickell Police Department Forum and Quartile Safety Event, both designed to address growing safety concerns in the neighborhood. He reaffirmed his commitment to continued community engagement, announcing plans for additional meetings to stay closely connected with residents. Commissioner Pardo also emphasized the importance of civic participation, encouraging residents to attend City of Miami Zoom meetings to stay informed about local legislative agendas. He clarified that First Readings at Commission present a first public version of an ordinance and are intended to invite community feedback before second reading. The final adoption of an ordinance occurs at the vote on second reading.

The City of Miami Police Department provided a detailed update on recent safety concerns in the area. That gave a holistic picture to the issues at hand. and ways we can collaborate as residents and property managers. To support condominium communities, the department encourages buildings to request a Security Survey by contacting Aileen Rodriguez, which can help identify areas of vulnerability and provide tailored safety recommendations. Officers also confirmed that increased patrols and drive-throughs throughout Brickell are underway to deter crime and improve police presence.

William Ortiz, representing Commissioner Joe Carollo’s office, provided important updates on enforcement efforts related to short-term rental violations. He also announced plans for a marine patrol unit that will be stationed near the mouth of the Miami River at the Icon, further reinforcing waterfront safety for residents and visitors alike.

BHA also shared plans to host a Voter Registration Drive in partnership with another condominium, working alongside the Miami-Dade Elections Department to help register residents and encourage increased voter turnout.

The Brickell Homeowners Association remains committed to advocating for the safety, security, and overall quality of life for all Brickell residents. We thank our city officials and community members for their continued partnership in these efforts.
